Group Riding Safety | Kuwait Bikers

Every Kuwait Bikers ride starts and ends with safety. These are the rules every member and guest follows on a club ride.

Before the ride

Briefing: the road captain explains the route from start to destination, the stops and the pace, and reminds everyone of the hand signals.
Arrive ready: full tank, checked tyres, brakes, lights and chain, and a charged phone.
Know your place: newer riders ride near the front, behind the road captain, where the pace is steadiest.

Full gear, every ride

Helmet, riding jacket, gloves, long trousers and boots. In summer choose ventilated gear rather than riding without it: a fall on hot asphalt at any speed causes serious injury.

Formation

Staggered formation on straight roads: riders alternate between the left and right of the lane, with about two seconds to the rider directly ahead.
Single file on curves, ramps, roundabouts and in poor visibility.
Road captain and sweep: the road captain leads and sets the pace; the sweep rides last and stays with anyone who stops. No one is left behind.
Keep your position and do not overtake other riders inside the group.

Hand signals

Signals are given by the road captain and passed down the line by each rider.

Left turn: left arm straight out.
Right turn: left arm out, forearm raised at the elbow.
Slow down: left arm out and down, palm down, moving up and down.
Stop: left arm down, palm facing back.
Single file: left arm raised, one finger up.
Double (staggered) file: left arm raised, two fingers up.
Hazard on the road: point to the hazard with the left hand or foot.
Fuel stop: point to the fuel tank.

Riding in the Kuwait heat

Ride early in the morning or after sunset in summer.
Drink water before the ride and at every stop.
Watch for sand on the road and reduced visibility on dusty days.

Respect the road

Traffic law comes first. No stunts, no racing and no riding between cars in traffic. Kuwait’s traffic law, in force since April 2025, carries heavy penalties for reckless driving and racing.
